About Author
Writing books makes the world go round
Dieter Gartelmann came to Australia as a 13-year-old with his family and settled in Adelaide, South Australia. He learnt English, studied Engineering, married, has four grown up children. After 45-years in IT. He then studied Cyber Security online with Macquarie University for a graduate diploma, and loved it. Then cancer struck and the chemotherapy was responsible for getting a chemo brain, not good for remembering what he read an hour ago. He dismissed the idea of becoming the next cyber sleuth and gave in to a long-held desire to write
Interests
Dieter took up sailing with a vengeance after he and his cousin built a Mirror Dingy, all of 10 feet long. Soon that was replaced by a 12 foot dingy with a 19 foot mast that could support a spinnaker and a crew on a trapeze. When he moved to Sydney he boat sizes increased to 30 footers crewing for friends on Sydney harbour. But no more.
Dieter’s long term interest had been pre-paring dinner parties. They are smaller now but he hopes to build a reputation, won’t say what sort yet.
Studies
Dieter started cyber security postgraduate studies and did well. A credit and 3 distinctions but was interrupted by cancer and chemotherapy gave him that famous chemo brain – forget what you read an hour ago. So I switched to writing books, a long held desire. Four subjects of post graduate study will not be wasted – is there a cyber-warfare book on the horizon?
My new interest now is Artificial Intelligence. I’m looking at enrolling s a course. The world will be changing at a pace unimagined even 4 years ago
